Marvel Studios unveiled the cast for their upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, during a record-breaking five-hour presentation that drew an unprecedented 275 million viewers.
The livestream event revealed a new seat and cast member name every 15 minutes, building suspense and delivering plenty of surprises along the way.

“To me, my X-Men.” The biggest surprise came from the reveal of the mutants lineup. The movie will feature Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian Mckellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Among the returning heroes we have Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, with Danny Ramirez on his side as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky/the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Black Panther with her co-star Winston Duke as M’baku and Tenoch Huerta Mejia as the antagonist Namor, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tom Hiddelston as Loki and Robert Downey jr will be back as the villain Doctor Doom.
The cast also highlights Marvel’s newer additions, with the Thunderbolts* team including Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Florence Pugh as Yelena/Black Widow, Lewis Pullman as Bob (👀) David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and the first crossover appearance for the Fantastic Four stars Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch and Pedro Pascal as Mr Fantastic.
The directors Joe and Anthony Russo are also making their return, after Avengers: endgame, with Stephen Mcfeely set to write the film.
It’s finally time for the avengers to assemble once again, more than half a decade after the last time, when they defeated Thanos.
It will be interesting to see how this new structure will play out for marvel studios. The infinity saga spanned 11 years of movies all interconnected with each other, to culminate with a two part avengers feature that put the MCU on the highest spot of the pedestal.
This time around, with the multiverse saga, there has been some setbacks and changes in plans that make everything feel a little more detached and confused.
Also, even thought the cast announcement gave us some huge surprises, the biggest surprise of all is probably who they didn’t announce. Important characters and fan favorites like Spider-Man, the Hulk and Doctor Strange seem to be missing from this new adventure, along with the new additions Deadpool and Wolverine.
We’ll see what more awaits us on the way leading to Avengers: doomsday while we focus on the next two features “Thunderbolts*” releasing in May and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” on July.
